That is a good question. With all that cat like hearing, you’d think they’d hear even a sneaking human get that close to them.
But then again, with a Wally running rampant and with them having a conversation with the prisoner, it would make sense that they would miss someone sneaking up on them. Even with better hearing, all the noise everything is making could hide someone.
and it’s not particularly easier to discover an infiltrator wearing a complete suit

Yeah, there’s a whole range of options there. Tear gas is looking like the safest bet. A severe irritant that isn’t supposed to cause permanent damage, let alone death, but I wouldn’t want to test that if you have any kind of respiratory illness. Hope the science guy isn’t asthmatic!
